In the pursuit of providing exceptional allied healthcare services to our community, we embarked on a challenging yet rewarding journey – the establishment of our brand new wellness centre. Opening OWC was a laborious task that involved overcoming numerous trials and tribulations. In this blog post, we share our experiences, from the initial idea to the ongoing challenges we face, and how each obstacle has made us stronger and more determined to succeed.
1. The Vision:
It all began with a vision – a dream to create an allied healthcare facility that goes beyond just treating ailments. Our team envisioned a warm and welcoming space that fosters an integrated approach care, based on achieving outcomes for our patients and clients. We want patients to feel at ease and trust in the expertise of our healthcare professionals. The dream was ambitious, and as we moved forward, we quickly realized the immense effort required to turn it into reality.
2. The Challenges of Location:
Finding the perfect location was easy. Our space was ear marked almost two years prior to it becoming available. Patience and communication were key to ensuring we secured the lease. Prior to which saw the old tenant exit and a whole heap of remedial works completed before we could finally get our keys and start to make our changes. Just before we got the keys, damage was sustained on the forecourt canopy. Without a word of a lie, a truck used our private carpark as a turn around and got stuck under there. When the truck emerged, it took a part of the canopy with it, and we are still dealing with the insurance repairs before we can even get our signage in place.
3. Financial Hurdles:
No great endeavour comes without financial challenges, and launching our new clinic was no exception. Securing funding, acquiring equipment, and designing a modernised facility that would suit us required substantial investments. With careful budgeting and unwavering determination, we managed to open are making steady progress towards our goal of being the go-to community space in the Bays.
4. Assembling a Dream Team:
A crucial component of our success was building a talented and compassionate team of allied healthcare professionals. Recruiting and retaining skilled therapists and support staff requires considerable effort. We are ongoing with these efforts but know that the right people will come. However, we are already proud to have a resolute team that shares our vision and values.
6. The Ongoing Challenges:
Even after opening our doors to the public, our journey did not become a smooth ride. We encountered unexpected technical glitches, supply chain issues, and managing patient expectations. Continual improvement and a willingness to adapt have been critical in overcoming the ongoing challenges that come with running a healthcare facility.
